PROLOGUE 1. BJP government has, for the second time, captured political power to govern India for another five years. Though the Southern States of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have rejected the BJP outright, the election results from Telangana and Karnataka are encouraging to the BJP. The state of Tamil Nadu has not only ignored BJP as a political party, but also punished the regional political parties such as PMK, DMDK and the dominant AIADMK for their allegiance to BJP’s political leadership. The voters made it clear that the types of Mr.H. Raja and Mr.S. Ve. Sekar are persona non grata for them. The Tamil voters were upset with BjP for the following: a) The BJP’s failure to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET examination. b) Unreasonable delay in the constitution of Cauvery Water Management Brand. c) Conversion of Cauvery Delta into Hydro Carbon Zone d) Implementation of Neutrino, Koodamkulam atomic power plant,   Chennai- Salem Seven lane highway etc. e) Political proximity o

PROLOGUE 1. India has almost got back to normalcy after a period of total inactivity due to election related uncertainties. For the next five years, Mr. Modi and his team will be at the helm of affairs ensuring continuation of the existing policies, and in fact pursue them even   aggressively. Unfortunately, Ram Mandir will be at the top of the agenda. The message to Pakistan is loud and clear. Only the leaders of the BISMSTEC Nations were invited for Mr. Modi’s swearing in and not the heads of SAARC. Many analysts point out that Modi had successfully consolidated the Hindutva votes cutting across caste lines. In the process, unwittingly, he had made the minorities namely Muslims and Christians to choose different non-BJP parties in different states. Reservation for Open General Category people on Economic grounds - A Feather in Mr. Modi’s cap or an Albatross around his neck? 1.   At the outset, the Reservation for Open General Category people on Economic grounds - A Feat  Narendra Modi government deserve congratulations for having ensured the passing of the 124 th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on the first day; ratification by Rajya Sabha the next day and Presidential assent within the weekend. This is unusual in Indian legislative history. Now laws are made by the Parliament at a very brisk pace. It is also noticeable for another reason, namely the total unanimity between the BJP, Congress, CPI-M, Aam aadmi Party, BSP etc. On this issue except for ShivSena, no other party in the past has openly advocated the abolition of reservation in favour of the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward and Most Backward Classes.
